This page is just a little scrap book of some
pictures I found that I wanted to share.
Some of them I took, others are my fathers.
Kevin Collins heads down the front stretch at
Lebanon Valley Speedway, NY.
This is one of my favorite pictures.
Kevin Hodge Photo
Sammy Swindell through one and two at the Valley.

I am not sure who took this picture. It
is of my favorite dirt modified drivers
If I remember correctly it was one I bought (or
was bought for me) when I was kid
from the souvenir stand at Reading Fairgrounds
PA. I don't remember much
about Reading other than the countdown clock
in the infield and some real good racing.
NOW FOR YOU PAPYRUS NASCAR LEGENDS
RACERS.......
Here are some pictures taken by my father, Howard
Hodge
of the actual Thompson Speedway in Thompson CT.
You may notice a little difference in the real
track and the track
in the sim. The track that comes with the game
is modeled after the modern day track.
This picture is taken in 1963 from about the start
finish line looking towards the first turn.
Notice there are no walls in the turns. Just
big sand banks. There's a modified
somewhere in that cloud of dirt.
Another picture by my father of Richard Petty
coming out of turn four at Thompson.
This was the Grand National race in the late
'60s.
Check this out. The ticket stub from the race.
Found this in one of my scrap books.
$6.00 and the race was on a Thursday night. Can
you imagine paying $6.00
to go to a Winston Cup race today?
Another Howard Hodge picture. This one from 1976
of a super modified at the
end of the front stretch. You can see the sand
banks in turns 3 and 4 in the background.
The infield had a smaller track built in it.
That was used for pit road in the longer races.
The entrance to the pits is in the foreground
of the picture. There was no wall and you exited
the track to the pits just before turn one. The
entrance to thetrack was via
the road course that returned to the oval just
after the second turn. Notice there are no
billboards in the turns or a scoreboard any where
around the track.
That's it for now, there is more to come in the
future.
